Greetings Everyone!!!
I just found out 3 days ago that I have been accepted into AmeriCorps NCCC!!! As you can tell, I am super excited and it didn't take me long to accept the offer. I still don't know where I will be serving, but I do know that I am going to be part of the new program called FEMA Corps. I'll explain: FEMA stands for Federal Emergency Management Agency, and NCCC stands for National Civilian Community Corps. This will be the first time FEMA and AmeriCorps NCCC have worked together so I am not totally sure what to expect. Starting sometime this month, I will be embarking on a new adventure that will last for 10 months! Yes, I will miss my family and friends, especially my little brothers and my cat Leon, and not to mention I will have choir withdrawals- but I think I can handle it, and I'm praying that the people I meet won't be bothered by my singing all the time. I will be training in either Vicksburg Mississippi or Vinton Iowa.
Right now I am working as a Kitchen Assistant at Camp Lutherwood Oregon. I have been here all summer, and it has been a blast making new friends, singing songs and playing games. However, I am leaving here early to get ready for my next big adventure. I'll post more updates when I get home in a few days!
It's beautiful here at camp! I can't believe my time here is almost over!
